DTN News - AIRLINES NEWS: Australia-Europe Non-Stop Flights Promised By Long-Range Aircraft, But Airlines Don't See Demand

DTN News - AIRLINES NEWS: Australia-Europe Non-Stop Flights Promised By Long-Range Aircraft, But Airlines Don't See Demand

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - May 28, 2012: The Australian market continues to be excited by the prospect of non-stop flights between Australia and Europe as new technology aircraft arrive, but the reality is their excitement does not convert into sustainable yields, making it unlikely in the foreseeable future for such flights to be operated.

Stiff competition – European carriers have pulled out while British Airways (BA) and Qantas whittle their presence – has reduced the route to one that is fought on cost, where intermediate Asian and Middle East network carriers have an advantage. Geography also poses disadvantages: an ultra long-haul route to asingle European point would still require onward European connections, diminishing much of the advantage of the non-stop service. And while arguments continue about whether Qantas should have ordered Boeing777s instead of 787s, the reality is that the 777 would probably have been of little help in Qantas' current position.

DTN News - UAE DEFENSE NEWS: Boeing Delivers 5th C-17 to UAE Air Force And Air Defence

DTN News - UAE DEFENSE NEWS: Boeing Delivers 5th C-17 to UAE Air Force And Air Defence

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - May 22, 2012: Boeing [NYSE: BA] delivered a fifth C-17 Globemaster III airlifter to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Air Force and Air Defence earlier this month. The UAE accepted delivery of four C-17s in 2011 and has one more airlifter on order for delivery later this year.

"It's amazing to see all that the UAE has accomplished with its fleet of C-17s in such a short time, including standing up a new base; qualifying three aircraft commanders and four mission-ready loadmasters; and conducting humanitarian aid and peacekeeping missions," said Bob Ciesla, Boeing Airlift vice president and C-17 program manager.

"We're proud to be a part of the UAE Air Force and Air Defence mission long after each C-17 is delivered. With a mission-capable rate above 90 percent, UAE C-17s are ready to save lives and deliver hope whenever they are needed."

The UAE, Boeing's sixth international C-17 customer, received its first airlifter on May 10, 2011. Since that time, the UAE Air Force and Air Defence C-17 fleet has amassed more than 2,000 flight hours and carried more than 3,000 passengers and nearly 4 million pounds of cargo.

As a part of the worldwide C-17 "virtual fleet," UAE C-17s are supported through the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III Integrated Sustainment Program (GISP), a Performance-Based Logistics agreement. The GISP arrangement provides the highest airlift mission-capable rate at one of the lowest costs per flying hour.

DTN News - CANADA TODAY: Toronto Weather Report - March 31, 2012 By K. V. Seth

DTN News - CANADA TODAY: Toronto Weather Report - March 31, 2012 By K. V. Seth

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - March 31, 2012: The whole month of March, 2012 - we had almost spring type weather even though a bit earlier that than expected also confusing the beautiful red Canadian Cardinal bird - I have seen singing on a tree in our garden. Believe or not, last night we had some snow, the white layer of snow looks so calm and serene with a fairy of sweet coolness in the environment.

On the other hand keeping in view with global climate changes, any thing is possible.

This winter we saw heavy snow in Europe and Japan, Romania had snow upto 15 feet covering entire villages and dwellings, the inhabitants had hard time digging themselves out from the white wintery snow for a fresh breath of  air or to see the blue sky. On the other side of the world, Aussieland ~ Australia was underwater with floods. The abnormal global climate changes are man made, we should implement and respect the resources of this planet and mother nature., else the cycle of unpredictment  will continue to drive changes in climate with heavy losses to human and materials.

In conclusion with a brighter day a ahead, we wish all our near and dear, friends on FB and acquaintances a HAPPY SPRING with lots of JOY and HAPPINESS.

Best wishes to all from Karam, Carina Seth & Family.

US President Barack Obama and dozens of other world leaders have begun a summit on curbing the threat of nuclear terrorism, but North Korea's atomic plans will be in focus on the sidelines.

The two-day meeting in South Korea is a follow-up to an inaugural summit in Washington in 2010 hosted by Obama, which kick-started efforts to lock up fissile material around the globe that could make thousands of bombs. (Photo: Getty)
